What to Expect from Your Cannabis Hypnotherapy Session

Your session follows a two-step process, designed to help you quit smoking cannabis, and costs £300:

Step 1: We’ll start by discussing your personal relationship with cannabis – your habits, triggers, and what has motivated you to quit. This gives me insight into your journey and why now is the right time for you to make this change.

Step 2: I’ll use the information we’ve gathered to guide you into a relaxed state of hypnosis, working to shift the subconscious patterns that have kept you smoking. The aim is for you to leave the session feeling calm, in control, and free from cannabis.

Hypnosis is a relaxed state of focused attention, which allows us to bypass the critical conscious mind and access the subconscious where habits and associations are stored. If you’ve been using cannabis regularly, your brain has learned to associate it with relaxation, reward or switching off. These associations become automatic, which is why willpower alone often isn’t enough.

During the hypnosis, we work on several levels:

Breaking Associations

We weaken the links between your triggers, whether that’s stress, boredom, your evening routine or certain social situations, and the urge to smoke. Once these automatic connections are interrupted, the craving loses its power.

Updating Beliefs

Many people hold subconscious beliefs about what cannabis does for them, that they need it to relax, sleep or cope. Hypnotherapy for cannabis addiction helps update these outdated beliefs so you no longer feel you need it.

Creating New Responses:

Rather than just removing the old habit, we give your subconscious new ways to respond to the situations that used to trigger you to smoke.

You’ll also receive an MP3 recording of your session to reinforce the positive changes and keep you feeling confident moving forward.

The Science Behind Hypnotherapy for Cannabis Addiction

Cannabis affects the brain’s reward system, releasing dopamine and creating feelings of relaxation and pleasure. Over time, your brain adapts to regular use, and you may find you need more to get the same effect. You might also notice that everyday activities feel less enjoyable without it, because your brain has become accustomed to the artificial dopamine boost.

This is why quitting using willpower alone can feel so difficult, even when you genuinely want to stop. It’s not just a matter of breaking a habit. Your brain chemistry has adapted to expect cannabis, which is why simply deciding to quit often isn’t enough.

The good news is that your brain can recover quickly. Once you stop using cannabis, your dopamine system gradually returns to normal and you start to enjoy life more without it.

This is where cannabis hypnotherapy makes such a difference. By working with your subconscious mind, we can help your brain let go of the dependence more easily and adjust to functioning without the drug. Hypnosis also helps calm the nervous system, which means most clients find the transition far smoother than they expected. Rather than battling cravings or feeling out of sorts, you’re more likely to feel a sense of relief and freedom from the very first day.

Signs You May Need Help to Quit Cannabis

Cannabis dependence can creep up gradually. You might not realise how central it’s become to your daily life until you try to stop. Common signs of weed addiction include needing to use more cannabis to get the same effect, feeling restless or irritable when you can’t smoke, and finding it difficult to cut down even when you want to.

You might notice that your memory isn’t as sharp as it used to be, or that you feel mentally foggy much of the time. Motivation can take a hit too, with tasks and goals that once interested you now feeling like too much effort. Some people become more withdrawn, preferring to get high alone rather than spend time with friends or family.

Sleep often becomes an issue. While cannabis might help you fall asleep initially, it actually disrupts the quality of your sleep, leaving you tired even after a full night. Many people find they can’t sleep at all without it, which creates another layer of dependence.

If any of this sounds familiar, hypnotherapy for weed addiction can help. You don’t need to have hit rock bottom to seek support. If cannabis is taking more than it’s giving, that’s reason enough to make a change.

Why People Use Cannabis

People start using cannabis for all sorts of reasons. It might have been a social thing, a way to relax after work, or something that helped with anxiety, sleep or pain. For some, it started during the teenage years and just carried on into adulthood. For others, it became a way to cope with stress, boredom or difficult emotions.

Over time, what started as occasional use can become a daily habit. The brain learns to rely on cannabis for relaxation or mood regulation, and the idea of managing without it can start to feel daunting.

Whatever the original reason, the good news is that we don’t need to spend a lot of time analysing your history. Cannabis addiction hypnotherapy works by changing your current patterns and responses. We focus on what’s keeping the habit in place now and give your subconscious what it needs to let it go.

However, if cannabis has become a coping mechanism for underlying anxiety, stress or emotional difficulties, it’s worth addressing these issues too. Otherwise, there can be subconscious resistance to quitting because part of you still feels you need it. I can advise on the best approach when we speak.

Is One Session Really Enough?

For many people where their cannabis use is straightforward and habitual, one session can be enough to quit. The subconscious mind can respond quickly to hypnosis, especially when you’re genuinely ready to stop. Many clients leave their session feeling like a switch has flipped and the desire to smoke simply isn’t there in the same way anymore.

However, if you’ve been using cannabis heavily for many years, or if you’re using it to manage stress, anxiety or other emotional issues, you may benefit from additional sessions. These allow us to reinforce the initial work and address any underlying factors that might otherwise pull you back.

The MP3 recording I provide alongside cannabis hypnotherapy helps reinforce the positive changes between sessions and keeps your subconscious aligned with your goal of staying cannabis free.

I’m always honest with clients about what to expect. When we speak, I’ll give you my view on whether one session is likely to be enough or whether a longer approach would work better for you.

Cannabis Hypnotherapy FAQs

For most people where cannabis use is straightforward and habitual, one session is usually enough. If you’ve been using heavily for many years or using cannabis to cope with underlying issues like anxiety or stress, you may benefit from follow-up sessions. I’ll give you my honest view when we speak.

Cannabis hypnotherapy works by accessing the subconscious mind where your smoking habit and associations are stored. In a relaxed state, we can change the patterns that keep you reaching for cannabis, reduce cravings and strengthen your motivation to quit.

We start with a conversation about your cannabis use, your triggers and your reasons for quitting. I then guide you into a relaxed state and use hypnosis to shift the subconscious patterns that have kept you smoking. The aim is for you to leave feeling calm, in control and free from the need to smoke.

Yes. Many clients find they relax more easily in their own home. All you need is a quiet, comfortable space and a good internet connection.

Many of my clients have tried to quit multiple times before seeing me. The difference with hypnotherapy for cannabis addiction is that we’re working with the subconscious mind, where the habit actually lives. This often produces different results than willpower based approaches.

Most clients find the transition much smoother than they expected. Hypnosis helps calm the nervous system and supports your brain in adjusting to functioning without cannabis. Rather than battling cravings or feeling out of sorts, most people feel a sense of relief and freedom from the first day.

Many people rely on cannabis for sleep, but it actually disrupts your sleep quality. Once you stop, your natural sleep patterns will return. If sleep is a concern, we can include suggestions in your session to support healthy sleep.

Yes. Cannabis use and anxiety often go together. If anxiety is a significant factor in your cannabis use, we may need to address this alongside or before the quit session. I can advise on the best approach when we speak.

Yes. Even long-term habits can be changed because we’re working at the subconscious level where the habit is stored. If you’ve been smoking heavily for a long time, you may benefit from a follow up session to reinforce the work, but many long-term users still quit in just one session.

My weed addiction hypnotherapy programme is designed to help you quit completely. For most people, complete abstinence is easier to maintain than trying to moderate use. If you’re unsure what’s right for you, we can discuss your goals when you get in touch.
