How can hypnotherapy help bankers and traders?
Hypnotherapy can help bankers and traders by calming built-up stress and resolving the underlying thoughts and beliefs that feed it. In hypnosis, we work on the pressure, worries and self-doubt that keep you awake at night. Practical coaching then helps you think clearly, make decisions with confidence and enjoy life outside work again.
Why combine coaching with hypnosis?
Combining coaching with hypnosis works on two levels: the plan you make consciously, and the subconscious habits that get in the way. Many high performers know what they should do, yet stress and old habits throw them off course. Hypnosis helps the plan you make in coaching feel natural, so it holds under pressure.
What are the benefits of hypnotherapy for bankers and traders?
The benefits of hypnotherapy for bankers and traders include feeling calmer under pressure, thinking more clearly and sleeping better. Hypnotherapy and mindset coaching can help you:
- stay calm and clear-headed when the market moves fast
- stick to your plan after a loss
- walk into pitches, reviews and client meetings feeling confident
- make decisions with a clear head
- switch off when you leave the office
- sleep well, even in a busy deal week
- handle bonus season and redundancy rounds calmly
- quieten self-doubt and trust your judgement
- enjoy your weekends and time with family

My appointment with susannah has gone very very well, I have now been off the weed habit for over a month now, she has taken away my want to smoke it and some of the issues that go with it when you stop smoking it, I cannot thank this lady enough for giving me a new start, the voice notes that you will get after your appointment help so much, I listen to them every night before bed, now I only need to listen to them every now and then, not once have I wanted to go and get some (w) and it is all down to the appointment I had with susannah, highly recommend if you have the problem that I had, tried to give up myself but always gave in to it, I have a new life now and getting a lot done, sleeping is good and have saved a lot of money not smoking it, thinking more clearly now too, I’m so please as it’s been a habit of mine for many many years, I couldn’t have done this without her help and I’m so grateful, she is there if you need extra help too xPosted on Google![]()

I've been working with Susannah for several months to work on my insomnia issues. After a few sessions we discovered I was also mildly depressed and we have been working together to try and fix the issues I was experiencing. In just 6 weeks I've gone from a fragment of myself to an inspired, vibrant person again and I'm so thrilled with the results. Susannah's hypnotherapy sessions are beautiful and she really works with you to become better. Highly recommend her to anyone!Posted on Google![]()

Highly recommended. It is very easy to communicate with Susannah and Susannah transmits positive vibes. Clearly Susannah focus is the well being of her patients. I gave up vaping in one session, no craving and no need to substitute by something else. This helps me to open a new chapter in my life without the servitude of smoking/vaping. 100% success as far as I am concerned. Would turn to Susannah again for what ever my needs are in the future.Posted on Google![]()

I have been on quite the journey with Susannah. For so many years so many aspects of my life seemed to be causing me anxiety and anger, making me too exhausted to complete simple, everyday tasks, that seemed straightforward to other people. I couldn’t imagine things would improve without months of therapy at least. Working with Susannah however made me understand that it was my perception of my life rather than the events of my life that needed addressing, and this made finding solutions so much more manageable. Right from the first session things started to improve, and as it turned out, in total I needed only five sessions. Susannah has a gift for explaining complex functions of the brain in a super-accessible way, so that I now both understand what was going wrong and have developed strategies to support me in preventing the build-up of stress and anxiety in the future. I cannot think of an area of my life that has not been positively impacted by my time with Susannah and cannot recommend her highly enough.Posted on Google![]()

I would like to start my review with thanking Susannah. I was sceptical, but went in with an open mind. I had one session of hypnosis to help quit smoking. I was a person that could stop and start but I wanted to quit for good. My session was at the beginning of Feb and so far so good. I feel a lot better health wise also helped motivate me to consistently go to the gym and generally take better care of myself. If your thinking about doing it, go for it, best decision I've made.Posted on Google![]()

I got in touch with Susannah after yet another flight that made me feel sick and traumatised. Living overseas is great until you begin to have a fear or flying which impacts your ability to travel with your husband and also for work. Since spending time with Susannah i have been able to fly a total of 4 times in the last 2 weeks and havent gotten upset or fearful like i used too once - im now able to fly and the worst thing that happens is i get bored!! :) I cant thank Susannah enough for helping me with this fear! Also, and i think no coincidence, i am far calmer in my day to day life. I absolutely never thought id be able to get off of a plane and go in to the office, instead of needing a sleep and a drink to get through it!!! Absolutely changed my life - long may it continue.Posted on Google![]()

I'm a 33yo woman. I've struggled most of my life with low mood/depression and anxiety. I came to Susannah looking for help in changing my unhealthy habits and mindset. I can't even tell you exactly what has changed since my 3 hypnotherapy sessions, only that something in me has shifted, I feel better, more content, positive and lighter and I'm making better choices. After the first session it felt like something in my brain moved, for the better. I was really sceptical going in to this, especially as the sessions were online, but it worked. Would definitely recommend Susannah, the sessions aren't cheap but was worth every penny to me.Posted on Google![]()

Can’t recommend Susannah enough! 3 months down and I’ve not touched a vape Or even thought about it. I will be honest, I was sceptical about hypno previously but it’s been such a great experience. My life has changed so positively since that session.Posted on Google![]()

I recently had 3 sessions of hypnotherapy with Susannah to help with a fear of flying that had been causing me anxiety, and tainting my experience of travel and holidays for many years. This was my first experience of hypnotherapy, and it was an extremely positive and beneficial one, as I have since been on multiple flights without that old anxiety, and free of the accompanying tension and fear. This is entirely down to Susannah's calming, patient manner and extremely insightful techniques. I can't recommend her services highly enough. Who does banker and trader hypnotherapy help?
Banker and trader hypnotherapy can help people across financial services, from analysts and associates to VPs, directors and MDs. It suits traders on the desk, prop and retail traders, fund managers, and people in sales, research, risk and compliance. It can help whether you work in the Square Mile, Canary Wharf or from home.
Why is working in banking so stressful?
Banking is stressful because everything feels urgent, the hours are long and your performance is always on show. A former Barclays analyst told eFinancialCareers that everything felt urgent in finance, and she ended up in physical and mental burnout. Hypnotherapy can help you lower your stress, so you perform well and still have energy left for life outside work.

What is trading psychology?
Trading psychology is how your thoughts and emotions affect your decisions when you trade. Fear, greed, frustration and overconfidence can all push you away from your plan, especially after a big win or loss. Hypnotherapy can help you stay calm and disciplined, so you trade your plan with a clear head.
Why do I hesitate to pull the trigger?
You hesitate to pull the trigger when fear of being wrong is stronger than trust in your plan. You watch the setup you've been waiting for go by, then kick yourself as it plays out. Hypnotherapy can help you feel calm and confident, so you act on your plan when the moment comes.
What is mindset coaching, and how can it help?
Mindset coaching helps you get clear on what you want and the thinking that helps or holds you back. Together, we set clear goals, spot the habits that drain you and plan practical steps. Combined with hypnosis, coaching helps new habits feel natural, so they last.
What happens in a hypnotherapy and coaching session?
Each session combines a solution-focused coaching conversation with time in hypnosis, while you sit back with your eyes closed. Your first session is the initial consultation, which includes hypnosis, and later sessions start with what's gone well since we last met. After each session, you have the personalised recording to listen to at home.

What would you like to know about hypnosis and mindset coaching for bankers and traders?
Banking pressure, confidence and career worries
Banking is stressful because everything feels urgent, the hours are long and your performance is always on show. A former Barclays analyst told eFinancialCareers that everything felt urgent in finance, and she ended up in physical and mental burnout. Hypnotherapy can help you lower your stress, so you perform well and still have energy left for life outside work.
Long hours affect bankers by cutting into sleep, exercise and time with family, so stress keeps building up. Many bankers get their head down for hours at a stretch, then realise they've skipped lunch and sat still all day. Hypnotherapy can help you rest well and recover faster between busy days.
Dreading Sunday evenings is a common sign that your stress bucket is full before the week has even started. You start checking emails, running through Monday's meetings and feeling your mood drop as the weekend slips away. Hypnotherapy can help you feel calmer about the week ahead, so you enjoy your weekend to the end.
You feel always on because your phone keeps clients, deals and markets in your pocket, day and night. Even on holiday, part of your mind is waiting for the next email. Hypnotherapy can help you switch off when you choose to, so your mind gets a proper rest.
Bonus season can make you anxious because one number seems to sum up your year's work. Comparing yourself with colleagues and waiting for the conversation with your MD can keep you awake for weeks. Hypnotherapy can help you feel calm and steady, whatever the outcome.
You can cope with the fear of redundancy by lowering your stress, so you can think clearly and plan ahead. Headcount cuts can leave you checking your calendar for surprise meetings and reading into every email. Hypnotherapy can help you feel calmer and more in control, whatever happens next.
Performance reviews can make you anxious when your sense of self-worth feels tied to how you perform at work. You might replay every comment, and focus on the one criticism among the praise. Hypnotherapy can help you feel secure in yourself, so feedback feels useful and manageable.
Feeling anxious around your MD is common, because they hold a lot of influence over your career. You might feel your heart race when their name pops up on your phone, or second-guess every email you send them. Hypnotherapy can help you feel calm and confident, so you can speak up and do your best work.
Yes, many analysts and associates feel lost at first, especially on a busy deal with little time to learn. You might reread the same page several times, lie awake at night and worry everyone else knows more than you. Hypnotherapy can help you feel calmer and more confident, so you can learn fast and sleep well.
Feeling like an imposter is very common in finance, because you're surrounded by bright, driven people. You might worry you only got the job by luck, and that sooner or later someone will find you out. Hypnotherapy can help you recognise your strengths, so you trust your ability and own your success.
After-work drinks and client dinners are part of City life, and a drink can feel like the quickest way to switch off. But it can disturb your sleep, so you start the next day more tired and stressed. Hypnotherapy can help you find calmer ways to unwind, so drinking becomes a choice.
Signs of burnout in banking include exhaustion, irritability with your team and losing interest in work you used to enjoy. Some people start forgetting meetings, mixing up details or spending weekends in bed recovering. Hypnotherapy can help you lower your stress early, so you recover your energy and focus.
Bankers often put off getting help because they worry it might affect their career or how they're seen. That's one reason I offer a discreet, confidential service, with sessions online if you prefer. Appointments are arranged directly with me, and I explain confidentiality and how I look after your information when we begin.
Yes, hypnotherapy can help you carry senior responsibility with a calm, clear head. Under the Senior Managers and Certification Regime, you can be held personally accountable for your area of the firm, which can weigh heavily. Hypnotherapy can help you stay calm and make clear decisions, even when the stakes are high.
Trading psychology, tilt and decision-making
Trading psychology is how your thoughts and emotions affect your decisions when you trade. Fear, greed, frustration and overconfidence can all push you away from your plan, especially after a big win or loss. Hypnotherapy can help you stay calm and disciplined, so you trade your plan with a clear head.
Tilt is when frustration or panic takes over and you start trading on emotion. Traders on NexusFi describe it as a switch flipping, followed by chasing entries, widening stops and fighting the trend. Hypnotherapy can help you notice the early signs and calm down before your judgement slips.
Revenge trading is jumping back into the market to win back a loss, often with bigger size. Traders compare it to driving drunk, because your judgement goes and you only see it afterwards. Hypnotherapy can help you stay calm after a loss, so you stick to your rules and step away when you need to.
Recovering after a big loss starts with calming your stress response, so you can think clearly again. A big loss can replay in your head for days, knocking your confidence and making you hesitate on the next trade. Techniques like the rewind technique and ego strengthening can help take the sting out of the loss and rebuild your confidence.
You hesitate to pull the trigger when fear of being wrong is stronger than trust in your plan. You watch the setup you've been waiting for go by, then kick yourself as it plays out. Hypnotherapy can help you feel calm and confident, so you act on your plan when the moment comes.
Overtrading often comes from boredom, frustration or fear of missing a move. Sitting on your hands can feel unbearable, so you take trades outside your plan. Hypnotherapy can help you feel calm and patient, so you wait for the trades that fit your rules.
Market volatility can be stressful for traders, particularly when prices move quickly and decisions have to be made under pressure. In a small study of male traders on a London trading floor, cortisol levels rose alongside market volatility. Hypnotherapy can help you work on feeling calm and steady when the desk is busy.
Research suggests sustained stress can influence how people take risks. In a University of Cambridge experiment, volunteers given cortisol over eight days became more cautious in a financial risk task. We can work on the stress and emotional reactions that affect how you feel about your decisions.
Traders can sleep better with a regular wind-down routine and a way to switch off a busy mind. Early starts for the London open, US data in the afternoon and positions held overnight can all keep your mind on the market. The personalised recording can help you drift off, even when the markets are still on your mind.
Yes, hypnosis can help you reach a calm, focused state, sometimes called being in the zone. Hypnosis is itself a state of focused attention, so practising it trains your mind to settle quickly. With self-hypnosis and anchoring, you can bring that state back before the open.
Hypnosis and coaching techniques
Solution-focused hypnotherapy combines a forward-looking conversation about what you want with hypnosis to calm your mind. It's based on how the brain works under stress, and it suits busy people who want practical results. For bankers and traders, it means building on what's already working, one small step at a time.
Mindset coaching helps you get clear on what you want and the thinking that helps or holds you back. Together, we set clear goals, spot the habits that drain you and plan practical steps. Combined with hypnosis, coaching helps new habits feel natural, so they last.
Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy combines CBT, which helps you spot and change unhelpful thinking, with hypnosis. It can help if you catastrophise after a loss, set impossible standards or assume the worst before a review. In hypnosis, the new, calmer way of thinking can feel more natural and automatic.
Ericksonian hypnotherapy is a gentle, indirect style of hypnosis developed by psychiatrist Milton Erickson, using stories and metaphors. It suits analytical minds, because the stories speak to your imagination, so you can relax and let it work. Metaphors can help you see a problem, like a losing streak, in a new and more helpful way.
Positive suggestion is the use of clear, encouraging statements in hypnosis, when your mind is relaxed and open to change. For a trader, that might be suggestions for patience and discipline, and for a banker, calm confidence in meetings. Repeated in hypnosis and on the personalised recording, these suggestions can help new responses feel natural.
Ego strengthening is a set of suggestions that build self-belief and remind you of your strengths and past successes. It's useful after a bad quarter, a missed deal or a tough review, when confidence takes a knock. It helps you feel steady and resilient, so one setback stays in proportion.
NLP, or neuro-linguistic programming, is a set of techniques for changing how you think, feel and respond. Anchoring, the rewind technique and reframing are all used in NLP. I use them where helpful, alongside hypnosis, to help you respond calmly under pressure.
Anchoring is an NLP technique that links a calm, focused feeling to a small physical cue, like pressing your thumb and finger together. We create your anchor in hypnosis, and you can use it discreetly at the open, before a pitch or in a tense call. Over time, the cue brings back that calm, focused state quickly.
The rewind technique is a gentle way of taking the emotional charge out of a difficult memory, while you're relaxed in hypnosis. You watch the memory like a film, then run it backwards, so it loses its power. It can help after a big trading loss, a deal collapsing or a public dressing-down that keeps replaying in your head.
Reframing is looking at a situation in a new way, so it feels more manageable. A loss can become useful information, and nerves before a pitch can become energy and focus. In hypnosis, the new view can feel more natural, so it sticks.
EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, involves tapping on points on your face, upper body and hands while you focus on a feeling. It's a quick way to calm down after a heavy loss or before a big meeting, ideally somewhere private. You can do it in a few minutes, in a meeting room or at home.
A useful technique is to breathe out for longer than you breathe in, which helps calm your stress response. You can do it discreetly at your desk, in a meeting or on a call. I teach you this alongside anchoring, so you have quick tools for the moments that count.
The miracle question is a coaching question that asks you to imagine waking up tomorrow with the problem solved, and to notice what's different. For a banker, that might mean leaving on time, sleeping well and feeling calm in the Monday meeting. It turns a vague wish into a clear picture of what you want, so we can work towards it.
Scaling means rating where you are on a scale of 0 to 10, such as how calm you feel on the desk. We then look at what one point higher would look like, and how to get there. Bankers and traders often like it, because it turns progress into numbers you can track.
Self-hypnosis is a skill I teach you, so you can relax and refocus your mind on your own. You can use it on the train, before a big meeting or at bedtime after a long day. With practice, it takes a few minutes.
Mental rehearsal is picturing yourself performing well, in detail, while you're relaxed in hypnosis. Athletes use it before big events, and it can help you prepare for a pitch, an interview or the market open. By the time the day comes, it can feel familiar, so you feel calmer and more prepared.
Appointments, privacy and practical questions
Banker and trader hypnotherapy can help people across financial services, from analysts and associates to VPs, directors and MDs. It suits traders on the desk, prop and retail traders, fund managers, and people in sales, research, risk and compliance. It can help whether you work in the Square Mile, Canary Wharf or from home.
Banker and trader hypnotherapy works by lowering your stress, so the calm, clear-thinking part of your brain stays in charge. In hypnosis, we work on the negative stories, thoughts and beliefs at the root of the problem, like fearing every mistake will cost you. Then, where helpful, you mentally rehearse staying calm on the desk, sleeping well and walking into big meetings with confidence.
Combining coaching with hypnosis works on two levels: the plan you make consciously, and the subconscious habits that get in the way. Many high performers know what they should do, yet stress and old habits throw them off course. Hypnosis helps the plan you make in coaching feel natural, so it holds under pressure.
Stress can make it harder to think clearly by affecting attention, working memory and how you weigh up decisions. Traders often notice they find it harder to follow their plan when they're tired and stressed. Hypnotherapy can help you feel calmer and more focused when you need to think things through.
The stress bucket is a way of picturing how stress builds up over time. Every late night, tense call and market swing can add to it, while sleep, rest and support help you recover. We use it as a simple way to talk about what is adding to your stress and how hypnosis can help you feel calmer.
Each session combines a solution-focused coaching conversation with time in hypnosis, while you sit back with your eyes closed. Your first session is the initial consultation, which includes hypnosis, and later sessions start with what's gone well since we last met. After each session, you have the personalised recording to listen to at home.
The personalised recording is the audio of your hypnosis session, for you to listen to at home between sessions. It's ideal at bedtime or on the train home, to help you leave the day behind. Listening regularly helps reinforce the positive changes we make together.
Yes, you stay in control throughout hypnosis, aware of what's happening and able to open your eyes at any time. Hypnosis is a natural, focused state, a bit like being absorbed in a good book. Most people find it very relaxing, and you come out feeling refreshed and alert.
It's both: practical, goal-focused coaching combined with clinical hypnotherapy. We focus on what you want and how to get there, using hypnosis to make the changes feel natural. It suits busy people who want practical, forward-looking help.
Hypnotherapy and mindset coaching for bankers and traders are private and discreet, with confidentiality explained when we begin. Appointments are arranged directly with me. My ICO registration number is ZB654528, and my privacy policy explains how I look after your information.
Yes, you can have hypnotherapy online by secure, encrypted Zoom, which can make it easier to fit around market hours and deal deadlines. You can join from home or a private meeting room, wherever you can talk freely. My online hypnotherapy page has more detail.
The number of sessions varies from person to person, depending on what you'd like to work on. We talk it through at your initial consultation, so you know what to expect.

Experience, registrations and research
Research suggests stress in banking and trading can affect how people feel and make decisions. John Coates and Joe Herbert found an association between traders' cortisol levels and market volatility in a small London trading-floor study. A later experiment found that sustained cortisol exposure changed volunteers' financial risk preferences.
Research suggests hypnosis can help with stress, anxiety and sleep. A 2019 review of studies found hypnosis helped reduce anxiety, and a 2020 trial found group hypnosis, with recordings for home, helped reduce stress. A 2014 study in the journal Sleep found a hypnosis recording increased deep sleep during a nap in women who respond well to hypnosis.
